WhatsApp Coexistence: Import Chat History from WhatsApp Business App
planned

Business Problem:
When a business connects their WhatsApp Business App (WABA) to the WhatsApp Cloud API, existing conversations are not imported into the new environment. This creates a disjointed experience for users who expect to see their past chats, leading to confusion, loss of context, and operational inefficiencies for support and sales teams.
Desired Outcome:
Allow import of existing conversation history from the WhatsApp Business App when transitioning to the Cloud API, allowing users to continue conversations seamlessly without losing prior message context.

Businesses currently using the WhatsApp Business API through Respond.io may want to switch to WhatsApp Coexistence to regain access to the WhatsApp Business App alongside the API. However, migrating to Coexistence without transferring existing chat history can result in losing access to valuable customer conversations, sales records, and follow-up context, disrupting daily operations and customer relationships.
Proposed Solution:
Enable businesses to migrate from WhatsApp Business API to WhatsApp Coexistence while preserving and transferring their existing chat history into the WhatsApp Business App, ensuring conversation continuity throughout the migration process.
Expected Benefits:
Preserve historical customer conversations and sales records.
Avoid losing important customer context during migration.
Enable teams to continue managing conversations seamlessly across Respond.io and the WhatsApp Business App.
Make switching to Coexistence easier without disrupting ongoing customer service and sales operations.
Suggested Implementation:
Introduce a migration option that transfers eligible historical conversations from the existing WhatsApp API setup to WhatsApp Coexistence, with clear guidance on supported messages, media, timestamps, and migration limitations.
