AI Agents: Understand Instagram Story and Shared Reel Content
Wong Yi Teng
Business Problem:
When a contact replies to an Instagram Story, mentions the business in a Story, or shares or forwards a Reel, AI Agent knows it received a Story reply or a Reel but has no context on what the content is about. It can't link the contact's message to the Story or Reel that started the conversation.
For example:
- Business posts a Story: "New arrival: Linen Shirt, RM89, 20% off this week"
- Contact replies to the Story: "Still available in M?"
- AI Agent: "Sorry, which product are you asking about?"
The same thing happens with Reels. A contact forwards a Reel of a product and asks "Do you sell this?", or forwards the business's own promo Reel and asks "Is this promo still on?". AI Agent knows a Reel was shared but can't tell what's in it, so it asks the contact to describe what they already sent.
Desired Outcome:
Pass Story and Reel content into AI Agent's context, so it can read:
- The Story a contact replied to or mentioned the business in: the image, or a thumbnail/cover frame for a video Story, plus any text on it
- Shared or forwarded Reels: the caption, the creator's handle, and a thumbnail/cover frame
- Whether the Story or Reel is the business's own content or someone else's
- The link between the contact's message and the Story or Reel it refers to, so the reply is read as a question about that content, not a new topic
