AI Agent: Increase the character limit for the Instruction field to 20,000 characters
Attia Saleh
Business Problem
Currently, AI Agent instructions support up to 10,000 characters. While this is an improvement from the previous 5,000-character limit, it can still restrict users who need to define:
- Detailed persona and brand voice guidelines
- Complex behavioral rules and escalation logic
- Business-hours-based responses
- Edge-case handling (e.g. file failures, coexistence scenarios, channel-specific behavior)
- Compliance or regulatory messaging requirements
As AI Agents are increasingly used as first-line support, users need more space to accurately reflect real operational workflows and brand communication standards.
Desired Outcome
Increase the AI Agent instruction character limit from 10,000 to 20,000 characters.
This will allow users to:
- Create richer, more precise AI personas
- Reduce ambiguity in AI responses
- Centralize complex logic within the instruction set instead of relying on workarounds
- Improve AI response quality, consistency, and alignment with business needs

AI Agent: Increased Character Limit in the Instructions Field
C
Carlos Mateia
Business Problem:
Currently, the AI Agent on platform Respond.io has a maximum limit of 10.000 characters in the instructions field. While this limit may be sufficient for simple scenarios, it becomes restrictive for medium and large companies that operate with multiple services, complex flows, and different service rules.
In practice, this limit prevents the construction of complete, well-structured and properly contextualized prompts. Alternatively, the automatic optimization feature ends up being used, but it often alters the original logic of the prompt, resulting in a loss of coherence, reduced accuracy of answers, and increased rework effort.
This scenario directly impacts:
- The quality of interactions with customers
- The operational efficiency of the teams
- The scalability of using the AI Agent in complex environments
Desired Outcome:
An increase in the character limit in the IA Agent instructions field (15.000 or 20.000) is requested, allowing greater flexibility in defining rules, contexts, and conversational flows.
With an extended limit, it will be possible to:
- Build prompts that are more complete, structured and aligned with business needs
- Reduce the dependence on automatic optimization while preserving the original logic
- Improve the consistency and accuracy of agent responses
- Create more robust agents capable of handling multiple scenarios and services
- Raise the quality of the end customer experience

at least to 15000 would be great...
